A Review of the Holy Week Floor Sequence Puzzle

This Holy Week Floor Sequence Puzzle is tremendous. The puzzle itself is sturdy and easily assembled. It features eight events during Holy Week. The best part is that each event has a corresponding Scripture card detailing the event from several different Gospel books. The Scripture references include stories that we don’t normally teach children. For example, the day after Jesus’ Palm Sunday entry into Jerusalem, when he reenters the city, he curses the fig tree for bearing no fruit. The author writes, “The cursing of the fig tree may represent judgment on the religious leaders of Israel. Living faith must bear spiritual fruit.”

Older kids can be challenged to put the puzzle together with the Scripture verses rather than the photos.

The Scripture on the reverse side of the puzzle is the same as on the teaching card.

The stylized artwork is less than ideal. There are a lot of “pearly white” smiles and Jesus is portrayed as “happy” in the Garden of Gethsemane. However, the characters reflect those of Middle Eastern people. All in all, I think the puzzle is a great teaching tool. For those who hold Easter events for children, it could serve as an activity station. Oriental Trading Company sells it for $17.99.
