A Giveaway Advent Calendar

While visiting a church in another city, I came across an inexpensive Advent Calendar for children. It is from Creative Communications for the Parish which sells materials for both home and church. This year I enjoyed using their “While Shepherds Watched” Advent Calendar for children. It is 12.5″ x 9″ and made of card stock.

I love that each daily window is a chronological Scripture reference with an appropriate picture. On the reverse side are simple notes and interactive questions that are for the most part appropriate for young children. There are a few drawbacks. The daily “flaps” are difficult to open especially if it’s hanging on a wall. However slightly bending each slot ahead of time will help the window open when needed. Characters are depicted as Caucasian, another shortcoming.

The calendar sells for $1.65 per calendar. This may be a bit too costly for some Children’s Ministries’ budget but I thought it was a worthwhile giveaway.
