Craft Ideas: A Good Friday or Easter Cross

These crosses are simple, yet beautiful reminders of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The clothespin cross involves taking apart the pins before gluing which can be challenging. The matchstick one came from my husband’s grandmother, a German who immigrated from what is now Ukraine and homesteaded in North Dakota with her husband. She had a third-grade education, raised 12 children, and sewed all their clothes. This cross is a treasured item in our home. It meant so much to our son that he took it to college only to bring it quickly back so it wouldn’t be broken in the dormitory shenanigans. To prevent your young ones from turning into pyromaniacs, you must burn many matches ahead of time before helping them create this.
